Night shift card

Leave the drydown card for the 05:40 crew, not a WhatsApp novel.

By Ms Nomsa Khumalo, Showroom host

Night shift card is a floor note, not a thought-leadership essay. Ms Nomsa Khumalo wrote it so a shift lead can act without decoding jargon. The point is simple: keep gel, dwell, and handoffs honest on South African print and packaging floors.

We have seen scrap that occurred after a cold start when nobody photographed the first gel. We have seen web flutter blamed on wattage when the air knife was the real story. Drydown notes exist to name the boring fix before the WhatsApp thread turns into a blame loop.

Read this note beside the dryer path and the cell path it mentions. If those three pieces of language disagree, fix the card before you open rate. Shared language is cheaper than another remake.

What to try on the next shift

Pin the habit on the cell card. Link the dryer path under Dryers and the cell path under Cells. If the note mentions hoods, timers, or knives, browse Hoods for the matching part.

  • One photo of the first gel
  • One height or dwell number on the card
  • One handoff line for the next crew
  • One spares check if tubes or fuses are part of the story

Light slips stay in body copy on purpose. Titles and chrome stay clean. Mailto dry@flushdryer.co.za if you want the note turned into a showroom hour. Bring the substrate you actually run. We would rather gel your ink than a poster that never visits your night shift.

Coastal teams should add a humidity line. Highveld teams should add a weekly wipe. Export teams should add a wrap timing line. The note stays short, but the card can carry the local detail that keeps scrap down.

Why we keep these short

Long manuals do not survive a Thursday night shift. Short notes do. Flush Dryer publishes drydown so the catalogue stays tied to real cells in Isando, Pinetown, Paarl, and Durban. Operated by Astros Marketing (Pty) Ltd, Sunnyrock 1401.

If this note conflicts with your machine manual, follow the machine manual and tell us what you saw. We update paths when evidence arrives, not when a slogan wants airtime. Near-name domains may exist. This note belongs to flushdryer.co.za and the Germiston drying desk.

Share the note with the next crew in the handoff, not only in a group chat that scrolls away. Print it. Pin it. Update the number when dwell changes. That is how drydown stays useful after the demo energy fades.

How it ties back to the catalogue

Every drydown note should point at a dryer family and a cell path. If yours does not, email the desk and we will add the links. Browse Projects when you want a commissioning story that already used this habit, and Resources when you want a printable card for the wall.

The craft bar stays cool white and indigo on purpose. Process equipment should feel calm, numbered, and easy to brief. Quicksand for display. Merriweather for body. Mailto only. No on-site forms.
